Welcome to Omnibits for Thursday, 5 September (Day 5) 0800 From
the school office all I see looking outside the window is rain, rain,
rain, and an empty drop zone. Well this was in the forecast for a long
time. We did get lucky yesterday: what was supposed to be
overcast all day turned into enough jumpable conditions to squeeze in
51 competition jumps. Those are re-streaming now (or will be as soon as
I can get the DZ to unstick it) at https://livestream.com/paracletexp.
Please
note that what you see on the live streams is what comes out of the
scoring systems. There is only one active during CF, but we expect to
have three during FS 4-Way. During breaks and down times those feeds
will switch to "replay". You can tell whether what you're seeing is
Live or Memorex by the yellow text in the upper right corner. We'll do
our best to keep something
on those feeds as much as possible, but if you get frustrated watching
a static picture we're not aware of, don't forget you can always visit
the results pages and view videos and results there.
AND ...
it's just been reported to me that the Livestream Broadcaster Pro
BCP100 streaming device is no longer available. If ne1 knows where we
might acquire a couple of gently used ones, or suitable substitutes,
that'd'be great.
I have the "Premium Mini HD IPTV Encoder"
devices I got at Perris two years ago but they don't work to web sites
as far as I can tell. I can stream to a unicast or broadcast address,
something else would need to hump that over the hill to a web site.

Hmm ... no ideas yet ... a quiet Thursday out there.
Dr Kramer your order is ready, one refactored Speed Skydiving scoring system, medium rare.
And now to continue work on the OSHD Artistic Events implementation.
IT NEVER ENDS.
In
25 years (since FS went to electronic scoring) the FS rules have hardly
budged, and the vast majority of those changes have been data, like how
much is deducted for a penalty or an ommitted formation. Meanwhile the
AE community can't ^h^h^h^h^h oh I'm gonna stop right there because I
know the AE subcommittee means well and they're just trying to get it
right. News flash though: all the rules changes in the world ain't
gonna save the event, but they're sure going to give me ulcers.
(Compare the # of FS competitors to the # of AE competitors and you'll
see some of what tail-wagging-the-omnidog frustrates me.)
