(Roy) Things are beginning to stir here at the DZ. I'm not sure what is first up this morning -- there is no one here in manifest yet -- but when we find out we'll let you know. In the meantime, we've a lot of work to do under the OmniSkore! hood this morning..

(Roy) CF 4-Way Rotations is first on the agenda this morning.

In CF 2-Way Sequential, Czech CRW Team was awarded a rejump for Round 2 due to a video problem. That rejump will be made today, but the time has not yet been announced.

0700
(Roy) The CF 2-Way Sequential event is a new event. That is the good news. The bad news, from an OmniSkore! standpoint, is that OmniSkore! had no room for a new event, and we had to do some artificial manipulating to shoehorn it in. That is why, when you look at the CF 2-Way results table, you will see one team number in the ID column and another as the preface to the Team Name. The official team number from the meet's point of view is the preface to the Team Name, but OmniSkore! must use the pseudo number in the ID column. For this reason, the links in the Results Table that should lead to each team's page WILL NOT WORK at this time. This will be fixed when the event is completed, but until then there is nothing we can do but live with it. Since the scoring summaries are accessed from a link in the team page, a team's scoring summary cannot be accessed until after the event is completed and we can fix the links in the Results Table. Please bear with us; we will get it working as soon as we can.

Amy Chmelecki's AE Update:

Day one of competition has ended and so far, so good. As planned Freefly, Sky Surf and Free Style all completed round one and two. Each team got to perform a free routine and a compulsory round. As the competitors got their scores the atmosphere was similar to most competitions, there were happy faces, sad faces, proud faces and confused faces. All in all the competitors are enjoying the warm weather, fast Otters, good company and competitive vibe.

Women’s world champion Free Style team Axis 21 of Japan had viewers in awe as they gracefully executed a beautifully choreographed free routine and skillfully preformed round two, the compulsory round. The husband wife team switched roles for the fist time ever. They are also competing in Men’s Free Style under the name Axis 22. Axel Zohmann is enjoying his new role as a performer. When asked how he felt about being a performer and a camera flyer he said that performing is helping him to be a better camera flyer. He realizes how difficult the moves are. Zohmann said, “I was so nervous performing, I don’t even remember what I did.”

At the end of day one Axis 21 is in the lead and Axis 22 is in third. Bryce Witcher, performer on the U.S. male Free Style team Almost Nearly Normal has come a long way since the U.S. nationals six weeks ago. After the nationals Witcher teamed up with Veteran camera flyer Jason Peters. Peters and Witcher did 60 focused training jumps to gear up for the World Cup. The team’s performance is considerably better then six week ago. At the end of day one they are in second behind the French team.

At the end of day one world champion French Freefly team Babylon is in the lead. However they do feel the heat from U.S. team, Guano Freefly. Guano is closely behind them in second place. In third place is French Freefly team Jok’air. All three teams have a shot at the title. It is hard to predict who will come out on top. Anything can happen during the next five round. After round one, Guano was in the lead by 0.1 of a point. Team member Chris Salcone was so excited he said, “we have already won, I don’t care what happens from here on in.”

It will be very exciting to see how the competition pans out. Today was filled with learning for everyone involved in the competition. First time world level competitors learned about dealing with their emotions under pressure. Veteran competitors learned that they have to stay on top of their game to stay on top of the competition. Event staff ran things smooth and continually made small and detailed improvements though out the day. It was a good day.

(LizBits) Good morning.  We are getting the team photos uploaded, although we still have quite a few to go.  Vicki Priest is being an angel in taking the photos and is on sentry duty to get the teams as they come out of the hangar.

8-Way has just started.  We are just waiting for the first video to be downloaded and judged.

Had a chat to Neal Houston yesterday about the difference between the World Cup and the World Meet competing wise.  He said he loves competing in a World Cup as there are more teams of a high standard to compete against as each country is allowed to enter more than one team.  The World Cup that stands out in his mind was the 2002 World Cup in Empuriabrava as the competition was incredibly close and it also had the highest ever scores of any World event.

The Brazilian team had the hugest smiles on their faces all last night after having had an awesome day yesterday.  I will corner them later for a quick interview.

We are still waiting for the vid of Round 4 of  the first 8-way team....

Scores are being posted - the French got a 20 and Airspeed have just landed.  As yet, the scoring/video link is down, so the vids are only being shown in the judges' area.

Yay, we can now watch Airspeed's Round 4 complete with the judging.  Here we go!  20 on the 0.0...  Waiting for judges confirmation.  There is very, very little between the USA and the French. Airspeed posted a 20.  Today, the uploading of the scores will be a lot quicker than yesterday as we have sorted out all the little gremlins, etc.

(Roy) CF 4-Way Rotations has finished Round 2. Russian Wolves has the lead at 39, Romme Rotation is second with 36, and Sibirsky Legion and XMAO are tied at third with 35. FS 8-Way has jumped Round 5, and the judges have just started to judge them. Deguello opens the round with a 9.

(LizBits) Managed to have a chat with the Brazilian 4-way team in between photo stuff.  They are a lovely group of people and their attitude, enthusiasm and fun is infectious. I asked them the usual question of how they were feeling about being here and they said that they were really excited and grateful to be here competing with the best teams in the world.  Their goals are to attain a 12.5 - 13 point average, raise Brazil's profile for skydiving and be good representatives for their country.  They have been together for a year and have done 3 training camps of around 90 jumps total.  2 of the camps were with Craig Girard, whom they say is the best coach they've ever had and he is so hilarious and fun to be taught by, plus they come here and actually see Craig implement what he teaches into his own skydiving.

I had to ask Xiara about being the only female on the team and to quote her - "I don't have an opinion on anything as I've got 4 men to tell me what to do!"  Her team mates told a different story about how she cracks the whip and tells them to clean their rooms, be tidy, etc.

(LizBits) The first of the Ladies teams have just landed and Las Chicas and Alfa-Fox are being scored.  I haven't been able to get any interviews with the women's teams or get any team photos as they are all dirtdiving/packing, etc in the main hangar rather than down in the competition hangar.  Hopefully, at the end of the day I can get hold of some of them!

Anyway, the Women's 4-Way is very, very close and exciting.  It is amazing to see how much the teams have improved and are putting some of the male teams to shame (in the nicest possible way of course!!!).

Fastrax Select just posted a 13, Airkix are being judged now......  13 as well -and confirmed.  Nice job.

Freefly results have just been updated with Babylon in first and Jok'Air and Guano neck and neck in second.  Who will nose ahead????  In the short periods between 4-way Women's and Open, will start posting pictures.

The Ladybirds are in the middle of being scored - will they get 13 or 14???  14, was right on the 0.0.....  A 14.  Synchronicity - just posted a 15.  Will Maubeuge post a 16???   Actually, we seem to have lost Maubeuge.  They should have jumped and been scored before Synchronicity... Mysterious - back when I know more!

(LizBits) All the team photos have been done - they will be posted by the time I go home this evening.

(LizBits) Women's Round 5 - Maubeuge got busted down from an 18 to a 15.  The Ladybirds did an awesome round, scoring an impressive 18.  Synchronicity are awaiting confirmation of a possible score of 19. The Judges are taking their time deliberating.  Yeees, it's a 19.  Wow.

Synchronicity are now 5 points clear of Maubeuge and Ladybirds who are tied in second place, with Fastrax Select 5 points behind them and Airkix only one point behind Select.

1545
(LizBits)  Round 5 results for Freefly just in.  Babylon are in the lead and Guano have pulled slightly ahead of Jok'Air, but only just with a 0.3 lead.

1610
(Roy) FS 4-Way has been judged through Round 4. Arizona Airspeed leads at 119, DeLand Fire follows at 113, and Black Cat claims third place at 112, one point ahead of Team Fastrax at 111.

1615
(Roy) A new rule allows a team to request a rejudge of a jump, but they can use the request only once per meet. Airkix, Team 304 in Women's 4-Way, just exercised their option and requested a rejudge of their Round 4. The second scoring returned a 14, the same score they got the first time around.

1645
(Roy) CF 2-Way Round 3 is currently being judged, as is Round 6 of Women's 4-Way.

1705
(Roy) The judging of Women's 4-Way Round 6 is complete and the results have been posted on the results page.

1725
(Roy) CF 2-Way Sequential has been judged through Round 3 and the results have been posted to the Results Table. Remember, the links therein to the team pages will not work until we can fix them after the event is over.

The judging of FS 4-Way Open, Round 6, is now being done. Results are being being posted as the judging progresses, but scoring summaries will not be updated until the round is complete.

(LizBits)What a hectic day!  The nail biting excitement from yesterday has carried on through today  in most disciplines. The Women's last round saw high scores of 17 from Synchronicity and Airkix. Airspeed posted a 24 with Fire and Black Cat on 23's.  It's close between Fire and Black Cat.

I've been busy putting together some photos taken yesterday and today around the hangar.  Click here for the random dz photo page.

(LizBits) That's it from me.  Looking forward to another exciting day tomorrow.  The French 4-way team will be doing an interview tomorrow morning.  Will also try and track down the girls' teams for some random photos and quotes, etc, seeing as only 2 rounds are scheduled at the moment, but that may change!!!

Good night.

p.s.  Team photos are being uploaded tomorrow (Roy has set the schedule so that we can keep you readers more up to date!).
