An absolutely picture perfect day, and the teams and judges are
quickly into round 4 of 4-Way again.Don't expect much in the Tidbits
this morning ... we're a little short-handed in the control room as we
sort out various problems outside, the most significant being one of my
laptops missing from the container next door, which is Not Good ... but
scores are being posted, in fact here are the Norgies ... a 19. Minutes
later, France Maubeuge, looks like they may have a bust on point 10, the
judges are looking at it a third time now ... no, only one judge banged
it, a 20, and USA Airspeed follows a 21, two close calls of their own on
that one, but another tie ballgame. Stay tuned! 1050
This day has everything! The missing laptop had us scrambling to get
the second judging system running for the CF judges. If anyone sees an
IBM ThinkPad 240 named OPAL, please return it to us. (Yes, it has a
name, but it does not sit or stay.) What a race in 4-way ... have you
checked out the results after 5 rounds? Wow. And word from across the
pond this morning, JK and Michelle Davis have announced the arrival of
Morgan Taylor Davis born on October 4th at Cape Fear Valley Medical
Center in Fayetteville at 7:59 p.m., weighing in at 6 lbs 8 ounces and
19 1/2 inches long. Congratulations JK and Michelle! (Along with T2, JK
was on the 1993 world champion 8-way team while on the Golden Knights.)

After several hours of hacking the code that displays the standings
on OmniSkore's DZTV output, I can finally look at some of the
competition. Airspeed had a glitch in their first photon-photon in round
6 that cost them a few seconds, while the Norgies, Majik, and Russia
Wild Wind had 19s. France coming up ... also a 19. At the end of six,
it's USA Majik with a 3-point lead over Norgies, who are one step ahead
of USA Airspeed and France Maubeuge. USA Golden Knights Gold are next, 7
off the pace. 1310
Watch Majik go! A 21 in round 7, nice jump!!! Some photos coming
soon ...
Music! Music!!!

Round 7 is finishing up and 21 seems to be a popular score for the top
teams. What do the rascally Norgies have to say? ... a 19. And at the
end of seven ... was I using fuzzy math earlier today? Musta been before
the coffee ... anyway, USA Majik enjoys a 4-point lead with three rounds
to go. They have looked some kinda good today. *** 8-Way begins next
*** Well this is also the European Championships 2002, and in that
competition, the Women category is the same as the World Cup, but the
Open category is narrowed down to 12 teams. Here's how they look after 7
rounds:

The DZ is still taking a siesta while I catch up on odd tasks. The
laptop that disappeared overnight is still missing, but I guess that's
small potatoes in the big picture here. 8-Way goes on call sometime in
the next half hour. 1615
[Yawn] Still waiting for 8-way teams to land ... the wind is picking
up a little ... word is now 8-way judging will commence at 1630 ... the
quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog ... 1700
We are undergoing team number confusion in 8-way ... a team was
"added" today, and Pia (the chief judge) entered it as 810, but
apparently, someone, somewhere, changed the numbers, and the team slates
are different than what's in the judging equipment and on the
omniskore.com ... Exi
is trying to sort it out ... The judges are changing all the 8-way
team numbers. Boy how did this happen!!! A serious case of the tail
wagging the dog. The judges tell manifest what the team numbers are ...
not the other way around ... go figure! Hopefully they'll get the scores
that are already created aligned in the right slots. Sheesh. All the
8-way team photos will have to be renamed when they're done. That beer
is gonna taste better than usual tonight ... 1800
We are on a wind hold shortly into round 2. The 8-way team pages are
now fixed (somebody owes us some BEER) and France 8-way looks very
competitive. Oops, Klaus didn't get some of the team acronyms right in
the name/number juggling ... hack hack hack ... 1845
It has been reported that teams have gone on a call again. Rina
Gallo, Canadian judge, finds out what happens when you visit the control
booth ...

1930
They're judging Great Kingdom of United Britain at the moment, I
think this will be it for the day, and 8-way round 2 will be completed
mañana. Yup, there's the
call! See ya'll then --
