Tidbits - 5 October

0900
Good morning everyone! The team names, and some photos, are now uploaded and you can find them on the links to the left.

Opening ceremonies are at noon and jumping begins at 1330 ... very little else going out besides creeping and juggling team photos ... special thanks to T2 across the pond for the handy work he did with those while we were inhaling some amazing seafood on the other side of Figueras last night ... there *will* be some glitches in the team pics (missing and duplicated photos) for a day or two while things settle down. Please report errors to us here.

The opening ceremony is in progress and it is very nice ... I have to stand by inside the truck for audio/video controls, but I get to see the show piped through the truck via Roland's OB van and they've got horses with medieval riders slaying a dragon and dancing children and Spanish music and parachutes landing and sun shining and I wish I was out there ... what a great job all around by the organizers here, they thought of everything and then some.

I dropped right around here ... We'll circle up and find it! Ah, this looks like a good place to land

There goes the first Otter. Teams are in the air! One of the horses left a prodigious pile of equestrian exhaust in the landing area, so we're waiting to see who surfs through it first, hehehee ...

... and they're off! Spain las Chicas opens the judging with a 6, and the ladies from France (I don't know their team name, they're in the system only as "France") open with an 11. Ouch! Kewara, the Italian ladies, funneled their exit but recovered very nicely with an 11. At the end of Round 1, V-Max of the Great Kingdom of United Britain leads with a 14.

Round 1 is, as we say, in the can. USA Airspeed, NOR DeLand Norgies and USA DeLand Majik matched highs with a 19. Behind them are USA Golden Knights Gold with 18, followed by Italy Sinapsi PD and two French teams with 17. France Maubeuge suffered a problem with the Stardian - Stardian out the door and busted a 19 down to a 17. They are well into round 2 ...

... and after two rounds in the Women's category, a very good looking V-Max has a 5-point lead on Norway, who suffered two video busts ... Open is on the board again ... the judges are keeping a good pace, I have not sign the dubbing queue get longer than six or seven deep ... I've been fighting with a new scoring processor setup in our booth and haven't been able to keep an eye on the early teams in this round ... the judges are spending a lot more time on each team in this round ...

Beer  ... necessito cerveza ... round 3 is in progress and we're mixing judging with live interviews on the big screen and life is good from here in the front row ...

Word is they will try to do four rounds today, but that will be tough.

Whoa, check out round 3! France Maubeuge had a perfect jump and vaulted into first place by a point. USA Arizona Airspeed did not have their best performance and are now tied with The Norgies for second, one point in turn ahead of USA Majik and USA Golden Knights Gold. Five teams within two points!

Round 4 is done for Women, and about two-thirds for Open, at the end of the day. The last score posted is 418 (German EADS), so if you're hitting your refresh button waiting for anything after that, you'll need to wait until tomorrow morning.

We'll see you here then!
